Do Not Rely On Those Who Are Arrogant and Lie

January 7, 2021 - LISTEN HERE

Psalm 40:4 (God’s Word Translation)

Blessed is the person who places his trust in the LORD and does not rely on arrogant people or those who follow lies.

What does it mean to Trust? Webster’s defines trust to mean:

Firm belief in the integrity, ability, or character of a person or thing; to have confidence or reliance.

Let’s reread the passage with these insertions:

Blessed is the person who puts his belief in the integrity, the ability, and the character of the Lord and does not rely on arrogant people or follow lies.

We have been praying for our country, our constitution and our president for several months now here at Happy Hour. The time is now to stand firm and put our TRUST in the Lord...and trust in the outcome He has in store for the United States.

But now is the time to stay the line, trust in the Lord and not listen to “arrogant people” and “those who TELL lies.” We’ve heard so many in the last few weeks, even in the last 48 hours, that unless we use true discernment and ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit, it becomes increasingly possible to ferret out the facts....and to NOT lead to our own understanding.

Whatever it is you THINK you know about the current political and medical situations, keep in mind that you only have a thin glimmer of what is really going on. If you get your information from MSM, remember you’re only getting told what they WANT you know, with the spin in THEIR direction. If you get your information from social media, be very selective of the sources you follow and believe.

In the meantime, remember what the Lord said about worry in Mathew 6: 25-34:

Do not worry about your life... but seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness so all these things shall be added to you.

What should we do RIGHT NOW?
  • Keep our eyes on Him.
  • Seek to serve Him better and with more trust.
  • Trust everything will be ok if we let go of the outcome.
  • Trust He will show us right from wrong.
  • We must aside our personal arrogance... and perceptions, and yes, lies and traps we have fallen into and accepted as “truth.”
  • Most importantly, we must trust God knows what He’s doing and trust He will deliver the best outcome for us all
Today’s prayer:

Dear Lord, we are passing through tumultuous times, traveling in unchartered waters. We don’t know what to do next. We’re not sure where to go – or if we should sit tight. We’re not sure if we should fight or hunker down. We’re not sure what our country is going to look like on February 1. We're not sure what to prepare for - civil war or total lockdown. Lord, the most important - the ONLY thing we - we should be preparing for is His return. We must be casting our fears and our doubts on to You. We need to be deepening our trust in You.

Lord, we praise Thee. We worship Thee. We thank Thee for being the One True God that through Your Son, Christ Jesus, we can always turn toward in hope and trust for the Truth. Protect us Lord and forever keep us close unto you. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Praise God for Every Thing, Large and Small

September 30, 2020 - LISTEN HERE

Psalms 147:11

But the LORD is pleased with those who fear him, with those who hope in His gracious love.

This entire psalm is one of praise for the Lord and all that He magnifies in our lives. From comforting the broken-hearted to healing the sick, to providing food for animals to changing the weather, and more. For every thing, He is to be praised.

To fear the Lord means to “worship Him with awe-inspired reference and obedience” (Amplified). He is also pleased with those who hope – those who have confidence in and feel secure because they know they are surrounded by His love.

Let's read this verse, replacing the words fear, hope and those with something different:

But the LORD is pleased with [your name] who worships Him with awe-inspired reference and obedience and with [your name] who in expectation and anticipation, has confidence and security in His gracious love.

Wow! Look how PERSONAL that makes the passage; it makes the Bible come alive and feel relevant to today's circumstances.

For all the things He does for every creature on the planet, He is worthy of our praise.

Today’s Prayer
Dear Lord, sometimes Your word is so clear and direct, there is little more to say about a specific passage except thank you. Thank You for who You are. We are grateful for your delight and it makes our hearts sing, knowing that some small act of kindness we have done to others is pleasing to You. Lord, we pray for our country, our constitution, our future. Into Your hands we deliver our hearts, our minds, and our very lives. Thy will be done for us, Lord, that we may follow the purpose You have laid out for us, even before we were born. We love you. We wait expectantly for you. In Jesus Name, Amen.
